Two pronghorn in a summer sage meadow scattered with lupine and rabbitbrush, one looking back toward the other, Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone National Park

Longing

Pronghorn in the high summer sage of Yellowstone, the meadow still carrying lupine and rabbitbrush in flower. One animal moves off through the grass while the second stops and turns back.

The panoramic frame keeps both of them and the ground between them, which is where the picture actually happens — two animals separated by a few dozen feet of meadow, one of them unwilling to stop looking.
