Columbia River Gorge, Oregon
Ring True
Wahkeena Falls, in the Columbia River Gorge east of Portland. The creek arrives as a narrow chute at the top, hits the lip, and fans out into a bell-shaped curtain on the way down — that shape is the whole reason to stand here. Late October, under the kind of flat wet overcast the Gorge specializes in, which is the light this place wants: no glare on the water, and the moss at full saturation.
