Ballachulish, Scotland
Golden Flotsam
While exploring the small village of Ballachulish we discovered the remnants of a decommissioned slate quarry. It was fun to poke around and read sign postings about the operation. Nearby, we found the quarry's old dumping grounds for unfit slate, which has created a spectacularly odd slate beach. We visited while the tide was out, so much of the lower areas were covered in a bright golden algae, of some-sort, that contrasted nicely with the blue-black slate.
