Maui, Hawaii
Enchanted Grotto
We discovered this waterfall by chance while driving the Road to Hana. It was raining — of course — on the impossibly narrow and winding 64-mile stretch of Maui jungle. I decided to stop to give myself a break from the driving conditions, and we found this waterfall while walking the area. Some locals were swimming in the dark waters, and we settled down to enjoy the moment. Although it wasn't far from the highway, it had the feel of a secret place. After a bit, I set my camera on a boulder — as I was sans tripod — and took a few photos to capture the memory. It wound up being my favorite photo of the trip.
