Smoldering
A slot canyon opening reduced to a single glowing point, the surrounding walls held dark and the swirled sandstone reading as pure flowing form rather than color. A dark fin of rock cuts across the foreground, and the light gathers at the top like a coal rather than an open flame.
Shot with the walls in full color, then finished in near-monochrome — the heat is still there, just banked rather than burning.
