Canyonlands National Park, Utah
Aglow
Mesa Arch is a pothole arch on the eastern edge of the Island in the Sky mesa in Canyonlands National Park. It’s also one of the busiest photo locations I’ve ever been to. We arrived at the arch hours before sunrise to get an unobstructed view of the arch, and by the time dawn broke there were over 100 people crowded around the relatively small arch.
It’s not something I’d likely do again, as I prefer quiet reflection time that allows me to connect with the nature I’m photographing, it was well worth it to do it once and capture the shot. The way the sun illuminates the underside of the arch as it breaks over the mountains is a sight to behold.
