Monument Valley at sunset

Monument Valley, Utah-Arizona

Persistence of Time

There’s no other location as iconically symbolic of the American West as Monument Valley, a region of the Colorado Plateau characterized by a cluster of vast sandstone buttes, the largest reaching 1,000 ft (300 m) above the valley floor.

This shot was taken at sunset, as the last glow of sunlight illuminates the fiery buttes.
