It was an animal day. Bison, elk, foxes, a group of bighorn ewes — the sort of run where the camera barely comes off the long lens. This was the only landscape frame I made all day, and I made it from the viewing area up by the basalt columns and the petrified tree, with my wife, mom, sister, brother-in-law and nieces somewhere behind me.

Tower Fall drops 132 feet through a slot in the rock, and from above there’s a decision to make about how much of that to show. I chose almost none of it. Six seconds of exposure to turn the column of water to silk, and a tight crop so the flow fills the frame rather than sitting in the middle of a canyon.

Wide would have diluted it. From this vantage the base of the fall gets choked out by pine growth anyway, and midday overcast doesn’t give you the light to carry a bigger scene. The wide view of this one belongs to whoever shoots it from below.

Editions & certificates

Each image is released as a limited edition of 50 — that's 50 pieces total, across every size and every finish combined, not 50 of each. When an edition closes, that image is retired and never offered as a print again. A few signature images are released in smaller editions.

Outside that count, I keep one Artist's Proof of each image for myself. It's occasionally available by private request, at a premium.

Every piece is numbered and comes with a matching signed and numbered Certificate of Authenticity. Paper prints are signed by hand before they ship; the face-mounted pieces travel straight from the lab to you, so the certificate carries the signature rather than the panel.

As an edition sells down, the price steps up. The earliest pieces of an edition carry the lowest price.
