The water was perfectly still, reflecting Red Mountain and the surrounding aspens with such clarity that it became difficult to tell where the real landscape ended and its reflection began. Soft, dreamy sunlight settled across the scene, bathing the autumn colors in an almost otherworldly glow.
I wanted the photograph to live in that uncertainty—to feel as though there were two landscapes occupying the same place, one above and one below, separated by nothing more than the surface of the water. For a brief moment, it felt less like looking at a reflection and more like looking between realms.
