Kauai, Hawaii
Tunnel of Trees
Driving through Kōloa toward Poʻipū, the landscape suddenly narrowed into a corridor of towering eucalyptus trees, their branches arching overhead to form a natural tunnel. The trees are nearly a century old, and the air was filled with their distinctive fragrance as dappled sunlight flickered across the pavement.
There's something wonderfully simple about the Maluhia Road Tree Tunnel. Nothing dramatic is happening—the road simply disappears beneath the canopy and invites you to keep going. I wanted the photograph to capture that feeling of transition: the moment an ordinary drive becomes unmistakably Hawaiian, and you realize you're somewhere else entirely.
