Saguaro National Park, Arizona
Entmoot
Saguaro at sunset, a hillside of them standing over the valley floor with the mountains beyond fading to silhouette. Some of these cacti raise two or three arms at once, and at a distance, backlit and still, a stand of them starts to look less like plants than like a gathering — old, slow, and watching.
Named for Tolkien's tree-shepherds and their council of the same name: a meeting of ancient, upright things that only look like a scene from far enough away.
